BREAK THESE CHAINS

(Even though God inspired these words, I

want writer Beth Moore to receive the credit

for her incredible analogy of our past hurts

being the “ancient ruins”….from her Bible Study

“Breaking Free”.)

As I revisit the ancient ruins,

The events and hurts of my past…

I ask you, Jesus, to break the chains,

To bind up my heart and fast!

Do not tarry to restore me, Lord,

For I need You, my Rock, to stand...

The ruins are shaky and broken up,

And they rest on unstable land!

Rebuild the cities of mind and heart,

Give me peace that knows no end…

Build me a foundation on solid ground,

My Redeemer, my Savior and Friend!

Let me look back but only to learn,

Not to fall victim again…

Renew my mind, my spirit and heart,

Teach me to break free from sin!

Free from sin that was mine to choose,

Or sin that others bestowed on me…

You were there, You know it all,

Great Judge, I give them all to Thee!

As far as the East is from the West,

Lord, throw them to the sea…

Only then will I feel the joy

That comes by breaking free!
