THE VICTORY IS MINE
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Oh, my Jesus, I come to You
And as I dwell on Thee,
I shake my head in wonder
At all You did for me!
The beatings and the pain
Should have been mine to bear.
You willingly took them all
As You hung in agony there.
Freedom comes with a price
And the price has now been paid!
“It is finished!” You spoke aloud
And then Your body was laid.
Laid in a tomb but not for long
For You rose on that third day!
Victory over death and defeat
You provided for us a way!
You are the Light of Life
That overcomes the world!
Victory was in Your keeping
As the resurrection unfurled.
Troubles You said we’d see
But then You said, “Take heart!”
“I have overcome the world,
And from you I will never part!”
So we can have the victory
But all the glory is His!
Joy can be ours here on earth
Until we reach Heaven’s bliss!
